Better together: Untapped potentials in Central Europe

Borders prevent the optimal exploitation of socio-economic and environmental resources. A relevant obstacle due to missed integration is associated with legal administrative barriers, which cause emergence untapped potentials. This paper exploits case study Interreg Central Europe programme. Removing borders among countries in area enhances scale economies a large market for inputs goods, both within regions across European regions. identifies potentials by looking at regional GDP growth inefficient assets. Results hint complex heterogeneous spatial distribution potentials, involving several factors.
